Sue Barnes Memorial Tournament

The Old Albanians Tennis Club recently held the Sue Barnes Memorial Tournament in honour of one of our founding members. Sue Barnes was a dedicated and competitive player who loved the game of tennis. She was an integral member of the OA's fraternity and served as the club's membership secretary for many years. Her passion for the sport was contagious, and she was never far from a court.

The tournament was held on Sunday, 5th March, and saw 16 club members participating in multiple rounds of doubles tennis. The event was a wonderful opportunity for members to come together and enjoy the sport that they love. The atmosphere was lively and friendly, and everyone was in high spirits throughout the day.

In between games, players were able to retreat to the warmth of the clubhouse, where they enjoyed tea, coffee, and cake. The clubhouse provided a comfortable and inviting space for players to catch up with each other and discuss their matches.

At the end of the day, congratulations were in order for the winners of the tournament, Irene and Sanil. They played brilliantly throughout the day and were deserving winners of the tournament. However, the event was not just about the winners, it was about the whole community coming together to celebrate Sue Barnes and her contribution to the club.

Overall, the Sue Barnes Memorial Tournament was a resounding success. It was a fitting tribute to a wonderful person who had a profound impact on the club and its members. The event brought the club community together and provided a fun and competitive day of tennis. It was a reminder of the importance of community and the role that sports play in bringing people together.
